GAC — Graphene As Currency

The currency of transformation.

A delivery claim on the production of the material substrate of a new economy — designed so that capital does work in the world rather than accumulating at the margins.

What this repo is

Working repository for the GAC architecture and a garage-level proof-of-concept of the production node that anchors it: the biomass-fed liquid-phase exfoliation cell — the path that turns agricultural and forestry waste into currency-grade graphene.

Waste-to-currency is the message. Carbon is everywhere. Silica is everywhere. The mint is everywhere.

The thesis (one paragraph)

The next economy will not be built with the money that built the last one. Fiat funds extraction. Capital accumulates at the margin, not at the point of production. Crypto funds speculation on coordination. Value circulates without grounding in physical output. GAC funds production. It grows by being used to build water systems, energy sites, structural shelter — by directing material into the world. A transition needs a currency tied to the production of its own material substrate. GAC is that currency.

What GAC actually is (architecture)

Concept	Definition
GAC unit	One-year forward delivery claim on graphene production, denominated in protocol-defined production-equivalence units. Legally crowdfunded production + material-delivery rewards — not a commodity forward.
CPV (Commons Purpose Vehicle)	Open protocol that defines how production is verified, producers are accredited, and the federation grows. The protocol is the commons.
LCV (Local Commons Vehicle)	Site that installs redeemed graphene into commons infrastructure. Redemption is gated by LCV-verified end-use install.
Real Assets Foundation	Sponsor entity providing first-loss cushion at bootstrap. Tranche unlocks gated against verified production milestones.
Vintage	Each year's GAC is a one-year forward against that year's federation production capacity. Each vintage carries provenance + cohort metadata.
Par-pricing	Same GAC unit accepted at par regardless of producer cost. Lower-cost producers — typically appropriate-tech in disadvantaged regions — receive more capital per unit produced. Redistribution is built into the pricing rule.
Cradle-to-cradle batch tracking	Production → Transport → Installation → Retirement. The record is the floor. No batch ID, no redemption.

Flow not stock. The unit destroys itself at redemption. There is no capital-accumulation path that translates into governance, ownership, or rent extraction.

What holders do not get

• No governance rights over CPV protocols
• No equity claim on production capacity
• No royalty stream from licensed production
• No control over which LCVs are deployed where

One thing only: a delivery claim on graphene output, redeemable for verified commons-infrastructure use.

Power decoupled from capital, by construction.

Production pluralism

CPV does not pick one method. It accepts all that meet the cross-verified quality standard.

• Industrial CVD on Cu foil — high-cost, established, dominant
• Molten-salt CVD — mid-cost, scalable, runs on bioregional energy
• Liquid-phase exfoliation from biomass ⭐ — appropriate-tech, agricultural residue feedstock, the waste-to-currency primary path
• Plasma-arc & ultrasonic — specialty grades

All par-priced once they meet quality.

Sister substrates

GAC sits inside the Real Assets basket of the Gaia Commons. RealLand and RealGold are companion substrates. Cross-redemption mechanics activate Year 3+, after at least one other Real Assets substrate is live.

License

CC BY-SA 4.0 (placeholder — to be reconciled with paper-author terms before public release). The CPV protocol itself is open-by-design: no licensing, no IP rent. New regions adopt the protocol; they do not licence it.
